As far as exotic plants go Canna lilies almost have it all! They are hardy throughout a good proportion of the UK, they produce incredible tropical -effect, architectural foliage, and once they start flowering they will last almost until the first frost so long as you keep on top of the dead-heading. However they can be expensive to purchase the fancy varieties once they come into season, unless of course you take advantage of purchasing your canna lilies as bare-root sections come the spring.
