Five mistakes to avoid growing bay trees


The bay tree, sometimes known as the sweet bay, botanical name of Laurus nobilis, is a very popular  species grown as topiary specimens. Native to the Mediterranean region, it is not quite as hardy as you would expect although it is perfectly fine being grown outside in the milder regions of the UK. For most people, gardening in December is more about enjoying the garden from the comfort of your back room rather than doing any actual work in it. However, there are a number of time sensitive cuts that will need to be made in order to improve the health or your plants and to ensure fantastic flowering displays in the following season.
